Failure and Success are part of our life journey. When things don't go as planned, we fail, and vice versa. We always get disheartened when we don't succeed. But the show must go on; as someone said "Failure is not the opposite of success; it is a part of success". To change our opinions on failure, Sam Yankelevitch shares thought-provoking insights in his book, "An Interview with Failure ".
The book has a total of eleven chapters, interesting afterword thoughts from the author itself, and an appendix with links to words used in the book. It begins with Robin Finch, a podcaster, interviewing his special guest "Failure". Each chapter deals with the significance of aspects related to our lives.
I was enchanted by the author's capitalization of the word failure, considering it a proper noun. The dialogue delivered between the interviewee and Failure was thought-provoking and sarcastically dug into the societal norms of failure. The author advises that perfection is an illusion and to never get struck in one place. He highlights how we should think and move like water, as reality is fluid.
I liked how first-person questions and failure answers everything in detail, which made me awestruck. The best part of the book was how the author intelligently asked, How do we choose to define and measure the failure meaning so one can hold themselves accountable? The eleventh chapter ends with Robin tearing failure from his dictionary, which made him realize it was a word no longer needed.
The afterword of the book was quite interesting, where the author shared how his childhood shaped his opinions on failure. His writing style was effective, making me realize what he was trying to say. I am looking forward to reading his next great book. The inclusion of proverbs and examples was skillfully crafted in the book.
There was nothing I didn't like in the book. I found no grammatical errors, and it was professionally edited. I rate this book five out of five stars for its engaging content with a blend of humor, thoughts, and relatability.
